Ok, I feel dumb asking this because I guess the name kinda says it all, but if you test early do you have to use a one that states so? (EPT, 6 days sooner, ect.) Are they really more sensitive, or do you think it's an advertising scam? What one did you use to find out about your LO? I used a digital Kmart brand one, once I got my BFP I bought a clear blue to keep 'checking' until my first appt. Yeah, yeah... I was one of those women. I never had symptoms though and it freaked me out. Anyways, What brand worked for you?

Re: Pregnancy test question
Pretty much this. I got my internet cheapies from babyhopes, and their product descriptions say they are sensitive enough to test early. I just bought a bunch more in fact.
With DD I had clearblue. I believe I took it one day before my period was due.... This time around I bought a generic kind from buy buy baby and I took it a week early and it was negative and then i did it probably a couple days after and it came up negative. I then retook it the day my period was due and it was positive! I then went to the store and bought a clearblue brand and it was positive as well.
It could depend at time you took it maybe? I don't know I just knew I had to be pregnant from how I felt both times!

I took mine about 12 days after I realized I had missed my period with a CVS brand that had been in my drawers for months! I'm sure it close to expiration. Let's just say, it was pos right away, and all the following were pos, using the cheapos. haha
First Response Early Response
I have a preference for clear blue digital tests. I know that decipering a line is easy but when it states Pregnant or Not Pregnant it just sinks in faster...lol.
I didn't have symptoms during my first pregnancy but I knew how regular my cycle is and had done the math when DH and I had an "oppsie" moment because I was on antibiotics which off course affects the pill and our back up had a fail. We didn't think it was possible, silly us oh well we just started our family about 6 months sooner then we planned. I stared at the "Pregnant" stating pee stick for 2 hours before it sunk in...lol! Only took 5 mins to sink in with the second one...but I did expect it more.

I wouldn't call it a scam, somuch as a tactic. A hpt's ability to detect a pregnancy is related to how much hcg a woman has in her body (which can be HIGHLY different from one pregnancy to the next, even on the same dpo) and the lowest level of hcg it's capable of detecting.
With IVF I know without a doubt the day she was conceived. I had my beta at 14dpo and my hcg was at 80.4 which is normal but not VERY high. Assuming a normal rate of doubling, I probably wouldn't have had a positive hcg much earlier than about 12dpo.
This site gives you a good rundown of sensitivity for various brands.
